No eating after 8pm

quote from dr. dave author of The Immortality Edge

Over the years I have seen and read all manner of seemingly
sensible reasons why you should not eat after 8 PM.

One of the most popular is that calories turn to fat while you
sleep because you are not doing anything. Well, that may be true
because of lack of physical activity but your body doesn't
magically absorb more calories at night so you should have no
trouble burning it off the next day with a little exercise.

A better explanation is that it may disturb your sleep and may
cause
your hormone secretion and sleep stages to be disturbed. This is a
good explanation but not all encompassing.

I think the most valid reason is that nighttime eating may disturb
the delicate balance of repair that normally goes on during the
night time fasting state.

While you sleep, your body goes into a special repair process known
as autophagy (literally self-eating). During this process the body
gets rid of  sick, dead and dying cells and is actively recycling
proteins and amino  acids so you don't have to spend the next day
scavenging for them as food.

Chief among those amino acids are the precursors to the body's most
important antioxidant defense, glutathione.  In all aging animals
the ability to generate this essential defense compound is
decreased. In all aging animals there is increased free radical
damage. In all aging animals the autophagy process is interrupted.

Stop eating after 8 PM and allow your body to maximize its
natural health and anti-aging process.

Sometimes the best solution is the most obvious and simplest and
this is one of those cases
