- Exercise is fundamental to our human existence and longevity. It is not optional. http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/press-releases/archives/2004-releases/press12222004.html
- The "calories in, calories out" line of reasoning is flawed. http://www.garytaubes.com/blog/
- Traditional cardio and weight lifting are a waste of time and in many cases counterproductive (e.g., jogging). http://www.marksdailyapple.com/case-against-cardio/
- One goal of exercise is for maximum Human Growth Hormone (HGH) release. HGH will keep you lean, you skin thick and your hair from turning grey http://www.marksdailyapple.com/human-growth-hormone-2/
- Intense exercise coupled with Intermittent Fasting (IF) is the most efficient way to produce HGH http://www.marksdailyapple.com/fasting/, http://www.fightaging.org/archives/2011/08/can-you-optimize-exercise-for-longevity.php
- Another goal of exercise is keeping your brain healthy and agile. The best way to do this is long walks (sends oxygen to the brain) and varied anabolic workouts http://www.oregonlive.com/health/index.ssf/2011/02/you_docs_dont_forget_walking_c.html http://www.charlespoliquin.com/Blog/tabid/130/EntryId/653/Tip-179-Improve-Brain-Health-and-Function-by-Exercising-Elevate-IGF-1-for-a-Better-Brain.aspx
With the above in mind, this is my weekly exercise routine:
- Walk approximately 4 hours per week. Fast walking, no strolling.
- 2 x per week weight barring exercise (all exercises and rational detailed extensively at http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-fitness/
- Rebounding daily http://www.evolutionhealth.com/rebounder/rebounding-benefits.htm
- 1 x per week sprint workout http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-fitness/
- 2 x per week yoga http://www.anusara.com/
All exercise is done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach after fasting overnight. If you need energy shot of espresso or green tea is fine before.
